Here is one picture I took these days on my visits at our partner organisation Aprovag in Senegal. François and Anne-Marie Dione, a very lovely couple, practice diversification on their banana fields. So they do not only grow bananas there, but also pineapples, papayas, grapefruits, chili and eggplants. The reason why they count on diversification are the benefits for the soil as well as their family in terms of nutrition and marketing of their products. That way they do not rely only on bananas to make a living.
