The KNOW-HOW3000 Knowledge Sharing Games

In our KNOW-HOW3000 Knowledge Management Programme we have developed an Experience Capitalisation Process in order to promote learning and sharing processes among our partners.  For this purpose we produce single-page presentations (“Good Practices” and “Learnings from Failure” at a Glance) as well as detailed descriptions (“Good Practices” and “Learnings from Failure” in Detail) based on the experiences and the knowledge provided by Partner Organisations, and share them here.

“KNOWLEDGE IS POWER, BUT SHARING KNOWLEDGE IS POWERFUL.” LARRRI/HAKIARDHI

In order to collect these experiences, we have invented the KNOW-HOW3000 Knowledge Sharing Games: our famous KNOWLYMPICS! Delighted by the great outcomes and success of the first three editions of KNOWLYMPICS, we have decided to further elaborate our knowledge sharing games and therefore would like to invite YOU to participate in our

4th KNOWLYMPICS 2019 with a special focus on RAINWATER MANAGEMENT

If you have a positive experience (good practice) or negative experience (learning from failure) related to rainwater management –this year’s KNOWLYMPICS is for you! Not only will we give you the chance to win a great PRIZE for your organisation but: “…those who share always win something – because sharing benefits us all!” (Caritas Kaolack, Senegal)

As usual, we will be drawing winner organisations among all submissions that will receive prizes between 500 and 1000 Euros. Prizes can be used for Knowledge Management Purposes according to the needs of the winning organisations. This can be an exchange visit to another organisation, training for your staff, equipment for the office or any other material prize that can be used in the organisation’s daily or project based work.

Remember that all participants win, as every experience will be published on the KNOW-HOW3000 platform and shared within our knowledge network.

As an inspiration for your RAINWATER MANAGEMENT EXPERIENCE, have a look at this good practice from IRPAA in Brazil on

“INTEGRATED RAINWATER MANAGEMENT IN HARMONY WITH SEMI-ARID CLIMATE”

The region of Semi-Arid Brazil (SAB) is characterised not so much by low amounts of rainfall, but by its irregular distribution. The native plants and animals of Caatinga (tropical dry forest) are perfectly adapted to the climate. People and especially the government, who are regularly struck by droughts due to lack of water management and inappropriate farming and livelihood strategies, could learn from nature to live in this region. The solution was integrated water management with diversified water sources for a livelihood in harmony WITH semi-arid climate.

  • You are a current Project Partner (either Technical Assistance or financing project) of HORIZONT3000 or of one of our Member Organisations.
  • The experience must refer to a method used in the context of rainwater management, to an overall strategy or approach of the organisation for rainwater management or to any other practice applied in your or your Partner Organisations’ work in the area of rainwater management.[1]
  • The experience must be considered potentially relevant for other organisations in our knowledge network. The most important thing is the possibility to learn from it.
  • Negative experiences and failures can be part of successful project work and teach us a lot. Therefore, we especially encourage the submission of relevant negative experiences.
