KNOW-HOW3000 News

The KNOW-HOW3000 News present posts from TAs, Sector- and Programme Coordinators and the Knowledge Management Team as well as other members of the KH3000 community about current activities and developments, gives personal insights into the projects and Partner Organisations, discusses technical topics, challenges and solutions concerning the daily life of TAs and partners and offers the opportunity to exchange experiences and knowledge. The news contents therefore specifically address the HORIZONT3000 knowledge community consisting of TAs, H3 staff, Partner Organisations and Member Organisations. Contents are presented in English and Spanish to effectively reach these target groups.

The topic of this Community of Practice (Familia Campesina - Peasant Family) was "Strategies for the promotion of agroecology facing the effects of Climate Change".

The project deals with permaculture trainings in primary schools by using the ILUD approach. ILUD stands for Integrated Land Use Design.

    Published: November 25, 2019; have been working as a Technical Advisor at the Diocese of Daru-Kiunga, Western Province in Papua New Guinea since July 2018. Today I would like to tell you more about a project I am currently involved in. Together with local leaders of the village and women representatives, we are working on providing expanded and improved health-care service to the people of Bosset and the catchment villages.

    Published: December 19, 2020; Sharing knowledge on securing livelihoods for South Sudanese refugees was the theme of a recent sharing event in Arua (20.-21.11.2019), Uganda organised by the resident NGO PALM Corps together with AFARD and HORIZONT3000. The event concluded the first joint project by AFARD and PALM Corps that aimed at securing livelihoods for South Sudanese refugees and host communities in West Nile Region, Uganda.

  • Soil Conservation and Evaluation in Mozambique

    Published: January 20, 2020; Any sustainable farming operation will have to consider that soils are a crucial and diminishing resource in agricultural production. Soils take a long time to form (thousands of years) and can be destroyed within just a few years. Fertile land is essential for sustaining agriculture. The productivity of land has, however, decreased due to more intensive use required by a fast-growing population.

    Published: May 7, 2020; A Triangular Technical Advisory is a so-called south-south cooperation, in which the capacities of one of the Partner Organizations are beneficial for another one or more Partner Organizations. As a new instrument within the Technical Advisory Program this innovative concept focusses on knowledge transfer between the Partner Organisations.

  • Positive Parenting Programs in Papua New Guinea

    Published: July 2, 2020; In PNG, research by UNICEF highlighted the high incidence of harsh parenting as a cause of concern regarding the positive outcomes for children. Any form of violence can impact children’s development and well-being. Funding for UNICEF PNG, enabled a strong partnership with the Catholic Archdiocese of Madang to support inclusive early education, setting up integrated early childhood development schools (IECD) and parenting programs.
