KNOW-HOW3000 News

The KNOW-HOW3000 News present posts from TAs, Sector- and Programme Coordinators and the Knowledge Management Team as well as other members of the KH3000 community about current activities and developments, gives personal insights into the projects and Partner Organisations, discusses technical topics, challenges and solutions concerning the daily life of TAs and partners and offers the opportunity to exchange experiences and knowledge. The news contents therefore specifically address the HORIZONT3000 knowledge community consisting of TAs, H3 staff, Partner Organisations and Member Organisations. Contents are presented in English and Spanish to effectively reach these target groups.

  • Fuelling change: Overcoming hurdles to widespread adoption of improved cookstoves in East Africa

    Published: February 15, 2024; Several horizont3000 partner organisations are promoting fuel-efficient stoves, contributing not only to convenience but also to the well-being of individuals, climate and the environment. The Community of Practice Climate Action East Africa, organised an event to present and discuss experiences and success with different stove types and community outreach approaches.

  • Agroforestry Systems Training in Mozambique

    Published: January 22, 2024; "I appreciated the practical part where I was able to gain new knowledge and experiences about implementing Agroforestry Systems." The Community of Practice "Agroforestry Systems" organised a training for its members in the forests of our partner organisation LevasFlor.

  • Developing a Knowledge Management Plan for the Policy Dialogue East Africa Project

    Published: December 28, 2023; The Policy Dialogue East Africa Project has entered its second phase. While knowledge management already played an important role, the project now strives to follow a more integrated approach, giving us a great example of how knowledge management can support CSOs to make a positive impact on society.

    Published: December 7, 2023; Indigenous law is an integral part of life for many Maya in Guatemala - but it faces major challenges. A horizont3000 project with Ixoqib' MIRIAM (funded by BMEIA and kfb) counteracts both the state's criminalisation and internal machismo and strengthens women in the position of Maya authorities.

  • Human Rights-Based Approach Training under Policy Dialogue East Africa

    Published: 29 November 2023; In East Africa the Policy Dialogue tool is being enhanced continuously. A recent training promotes a more empowering rights-based approach where right-holders engage with duty-bearers in ensuring goods and services are adequately provided to everyone.

  • Learning Visit: Coffee project of Gorongosa National Park

    Published: November 27, 2023; A new Community of Practice on Agroforestry Systems has formed in Mozambique. In the CoP's first Learning Visit they visited the Coffee project of Gorongosa, where coffee cultivation is a catalyst for reforestation. They learned from the park's practices and methods, and strong synergies were created.

  • Against all Odds. The Story of Hama Badja

    Published: October 27, 2023; Joaquina Luís João founded the women farmers association, Hama Badja, in 2014 to improve the livelihoods of her community. Supported by the NGO ESMABAMA ,they face the challenges of rural Mozambique with scarce resources but immense energy.

  • Training: Finding gender-just responses to climate change

    Published: October 25, 2023; An important three-day training in Dar es Salaam recently united 33 participants from East African partner organizations. Through interactive methods, they delved into the intersection of gender, climate change, and sustainable development, exploring how to create gender-just responses to the climate crisis.
